KinderCare Donates Climbing Wall to Portland Parks Foundation on Today Show's "Lend a Hand"
Al Roker with NBC's TODAY Show was in Portland June 23 to "Lend a Hand" to the Portland Parks Foundation. The Portland Parks Foundation's mission is to work with donors to support park programs for children, bring parks to park-deficient neighborhoods and steward Portland's existing parks.
The Foundation received over $382,000 in donations, including a traveling climbing wall from KinderCare. David Roy, KinderCare's Director of Community Partnerships, explained why the donation is essential to health of Portland-area children: "We care for and educate 200,000 children at our KinderCare Learning Centers nationally. We know that exercise and physical activity are profoundly important to children's health and development. Movement and play serve a significant role for children today and lay a foundation for a healthy life ahead. We are proud to be a part of Lend a Hand Today, and we could not be happier to partner with NBC and Portland Parks Foundation to bring exercise and fun to children throughout Portland. We think that the donation of the climbing wall is an impactful way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of KinderCare Learning Centers."
